It has enormous leaves that can reach up to 9 feet in diameter. The leaves or lily pads are among the strongest in the plant world, capable of supporting the weight of a small child. Their flowers are equally remarkable: night-blooming and short-lived. On the first night, they open in a brilliant white and release a rich, captivating fragrance. By the second night, the blooms transform into a vivid hot pink, retaining a pink color through the following day before fading. See image samples below.
